Dieter Rams

‘A celebration of the mundane, the ordinary, the obvious and the overlooked; Subjects often considered trivial and pointless, but when examined more closely reveal themselves to be deeply fascinating’.

(A very late submission for) ‘Systems’ exhibition curated by Das Programm – recent years have seen a revival of interest in modernist graphic design, but little agreement about what, in practical terms, this might mean or what is ultimately at stake in it. Thirty-four leading graphic designers and studios were invited to produce a poster design on the theme of Braun systems design.

Unfortunately I missed the boat on the exhibition submission by around 7 years as I would have been doing my GCSE’s at the time. However, I felt Das Programm’s exhibition provided a relevant context to develop and experiment with 3D software to create the minimalist poster series featuring the classic Braun radiogram.

The idea for this poster series was influenced by 3 of the 10 principles for good design coined by Dieter Rams - Good Design is Aesthetic, Good Design is Unobtrusive, and Good Design is as Little Design As Possible.

Thank you ✌️
