11 months as a Junior Brand Designer @ Rapha

Overview

 I was lucky enough to join the Brand Creative team at Rapha as a Junior Brand Designer, working there for just over 11 months (joined December 2021). An exciting change of role from my Experience/Digital design learnings whilst at Immersive Studios.

I am hoping the change of area and move to more traditional graphic design at Rapha will help to build a very well-rounded knowledge of design thinking and crafted execution. The role was incredibly interesting, encouraging me to work across a wide range of briefs and disciplines.

Some projects include

• The ideation through to delivery of Rapha Routes
• An updated framework for future Rapha paid display Ads
• Design and artworking for multiple Rapha paid ad campaigns
• A yearly event schedule template for all clubhouses in the network to display in-stores
• A weekly ride schedule template for all clubhouses in the network to display in-stores
• Artworking for the Rapha x Palace Tour De France collaboration - Retail window displays, Sticker sheets, Team coach
• One Up x Rapha MTB branded multi-tool given to participants of the Bellingham Rapha Prestige
• Ground Keeper Customs x Rapha custom mudguard given to participants of the Bellingham Rapha Prestige
• Artworking for all 2022 Rapha Prestige events - Logos, Cap, Musette, Social, Posters
• Design for an upcoming (yet unreleased) Rapha collaboration with a high-end carbon folding bike company
• Rapha Bentonville and Mallorca Summit event collateral – including print, motion, social, posters, stickers, and signage
• Rapha A Day In Hell event collateral, including a custom pin given out to all participants of the event
• Art Direction and artworking for multiple Rapha kit collection releases - including web, social, motion, retail and printed deliverables
• Rapha MTB social features
Reinforcing the Rapha Clubhouse as the heart of cycling in London.

A larger project of mine was the creation of Rapha ROUTES, a new offering from Rapha allowing customers to visit the SOHO clubhouse to be greeted by a wall of potential cycle routes they can pick up, collect, complete, and return to earn a Rapha certification for completing the route.

Since launching this has only been met with enthusiasm from both Clubhouse staff and customers, with plans to roll out the Rapha ROUTES concept across more clubhouses in the future. As well as periodically refreshing the current display in the SOHO store with monthly specials and RCC member submitted routes.

A customisable design system for the extended clubhouse metros that includes a full view of community activations for the year in one place.

Split into two posters - one for the clubhouse’s weekly ride schedule, and another for the longer-term events schedule rolling out across the year. Essentially a one-stop-shop overview, so that members of our community get a sense straight away for the breadth of activities we host at their local clubhouse. As well as highlighting the many touch points they have to ride with us, and information on how to get involved.
